Cloudmil’s inaugural Student Project Funding recipient is Dorian Dovai, a Computer Science student at Prairie View A&M University. As a student at Eisenhower High School, in Houston, Mr. Dovai graduated with high honors and received a Presidential Scholarship to attend PVAMU. His experience includes various coding projects and a Google internship.

The objective of Mr. Dovai’s project is to reprogram IoT, Internet of Things, devices. Essentially, modifying the features and giving the device a brand new set of capabilities.

“The current project I have engaged upon involves many simple coding principals. Any and every technological object with a motherboard, of all sorts, are capable of being re-coded, reprogrammed and redesigned to become functional in ways originally unintended based on the start of each object”, said Mr. Dovai.

The Internet of Things is the expansion of internet connectivity into everyday objects. A great example of this is Smart Home systems, which are a collection of popular IoT devices that include speakers, thermostats, cameras, and appliances. Bain predicts the IoT industry will reach $520B in value by 2021.
